Falling Star Academy is set on a man-made island, which is quite large. With it's various types of land and climates, it is able to host a wide variety of Pokemon from several regions making it an ideal place for people who want to become a trainer, but don't quite have the confidence or motivation to explore an entire region. The many different biomes allow one to do plenty of exploration while not having to go very far, and will hopefully get them used to the idea of actually traveling through a region one day. The most notable feature of the island itself is that it is actually in the shape of a five-pointed star. Valeria Saren, who established the Academy and serves as the headmistress, named it "Falling Star Academy" because she likes to think of the academy as a place that grants the wishes of its various students...just like how people occasionally make a wish when they see an actual falling star.
In what is known as the Central Area, the main school building and staff dormitories are located. With the possible exception of the Alpina Ruins, the school is easily the largest building on the island. A Pokemon Lab is also located here, and is it there that students will go to receive their starter Pokemon.
There are also five dorms, each one representing one of the five Japanese elements, and located in a different area of the island. There's the Air Dorm to the north, the Water Dorm to the south, the Fire Dorm to the east, the Earth Dorm to the southeast, and, finally, the Void Dorm to the southwest.
FALLING STAR ACADEMY was created by AKIRA. Skin by MINNIE of BACK TO NEVERLAND and edits by Amaryllis. All original content, including the site plot, systems, templates, etcetera, belong to them; images were found on livejournal and weheartit, and belong to their respective owners. Akira wandered quietly through the Solidago Fields, killing some time before she was ready to start on some other things she had planned for the afternoon. To tell the truth, she didn't really know why she came all the way out here. What she did know, however, was that she was getting slightly bored of simply wandering aimlessly. Deciding to rest for a bit, she stopped for a bit and started to look around. Indeed, this field was quite vast. The only reason she wasn't completely lost was because she could see the Air Dorm in the distance. Or, at least, she assumed it was the Air Dorm. Either way, it wouldn't be too hard to find her way back.
Figuring this would be a good spot to take a break, she sat down in the grass and let out a soft sigh. This was rather nice. More and more, this island amazed her. She had visited several areas, and even now, she was having a hard time believing that all of them, in spite of the radically different environments, were all part of the same island. There was no way this could be naturally occurring, so Akira could only imagine what the headmistress must have done to make all these different biomes exist on the same island, without them interfering with each other. It just goes to show you how amazing technology could be sometimes. Regardless, she just sat there and waited around...maybe someone would walk by and they could have a battle.
(if anyone is interested in a battle, then yeah. Feel free to post here. I'm thinking three Pokemon each, since not many people will have more than that)
Tonari was walking through the fields, enjoying the wind on his face, with his partner Absol right beside him. The two had gotten tired of sitting around in the dorms and had decided to visit a part of the island that they rarely went to, in other words somewhere that wasn't a graveyard or something similar.
The two were calmly strolling when Absol suddenly lifted his nose to the wind, and without warning he bounded off, Tonari running behind him and barely keeping up.
Hey Absol, where are you going?!
Soon however Tonari could see what had grabbed Absol's attention as he broke through the grass, passing Absol on the way since the pokemon had decided to stop just out of sight of the girl ahead with laughter in his eyes. Tonari stumbled slightly as he tried to stop, but in a few seconds he was standing straight with his eyes fixed on the girl sitting before him.
Uh. Hi. Sorry to burst in like this.
(OOC(Yeah, three pokemon is fine with me.))

Akira blinked as an Absol came out of nowhere, wondering if she had somehow gotten insanely lucky and stumbled on a rare wild Pokemon. She wasn't particularly a fan of Dark-types, but Absol was one of the few exceptions to that. And, with the recent discovery of Mega Evolution, she wanted one more than ever. Already, she was going over strategies to capture it in her head...which were brought to a screeching halt when its trainer came running after it, apologizing for showing up so suddenly. Akira let out a sigh...figures. Oh well, she was disappointed, but that was no reason not to be nice to this guy.
"Oh, don't worry about it. You didn't exactly interrupt anything...and besides, it's not every day I get to see an Absol up close!" She stood up and brushed herself off, then looked over to Tonari "Anyways, my name is Akira. Nice to meet you." She found herself glancing back and forth between him and his Absol, until she finally broke down "Say...I know this is a bit out of nowhere, but I've actually been wanting to battle someone. Would you mind? I figure maybe three-on-three" She awaited his response, while debating on which Pokemon to use. Assuming he'd start with the Absol, she had a pretty good idea of what she'd use...though she was also curious as to what other Pokemon he had.
Tonari blinked at the girls proposal. A battle seemed a bit sudden, but that aside it sounded like a great idea. Yeah, a battle sounds fine, but at least let me introduce myself first. I'm Tonari, and this is my partner Absol. Then with the formalities over with, at least as far as Tonari was concerned, he walked a small distance from Akira and pulled out a pokeball and threw it up into the air. Honedge, get ready to join the fray. In a flash of red light a Honedge appeared from the pokeball and withdrew itself from its sheath, ready for battle.
A three on three sounds perfect, so lets get started shall we?
Akira nodded as she saw the opponent. A Honedge huh? Akira couldn't help but frown. Admittedly, a sentient sword Pokemon sounded kinda cool, but, honestly, she couldn't quite get over it's Types, both of which she wasn't a huge fan of. Ghost Pokemon in general made her uneasy, to the point that she'd have trouble bringing herself to actually train one. Steel, on the other hand, she actually had nothing against. However they were annoying to fight, as they had a ridiculous number of Type resistances, as well as usually having a pretty strong Defense. The only thing that kept them from being over-powered is they have three weaknesses, all of them to Types that each have a number of powerful attacks.
But enough about that. It was time to focus on their battle. Letting out a sigh, she considered her option. She had a couple options, but even their options would be a bit limited, due to the opponent's Type combination. Her Mareep would have been perfect...too bad she didn't actually bring her with her. In the end, she made the only choice she could think of. Thus, she reached for a Poke Ball on her belt and threw it onto the battlefield. "Quake, it's time for a battle!" A bright flash filled the room, and, from it, a Rhyhorn emerged." Deciding to take the initiative, Akira made the first move. "Let's get this started! Quake, begin with Thunderbolt!"
The Rhyhorn reacted immediately, gathering a large amount of electricity into her horn, then launching it at the Honedge in a powerful blast. Akira knew that her Rhyhorn's Special Attack was a bit low, and that she probably would've been better off using a stronger move like Drill Run. However, she liked to give her opponents a fighting chance before breaking out the big guns. Sometimes, that sense of honor came back to bite her in the ass, but, in all honesty, she didn't really mind. It was more about the battle itself than winning or losing...for her, at least. Summary Akira sent out Rhyhorn! Rhyhorn used Thunderbolt! 4lGHr8Wb1-10 If the die roll lands on 1, then Honedge will be paralyzed if Thunderbolt hits.
Tonari didn't bother to say anything as the thunderbolt raced towards Honedge, after all, there was no point in trying to dodge it, Honedge's no guard ability made sure of that. Tonari had known that using a pokemon with such an ability was risky, but given the sheer number of type resistances that Honedge had he had figured that it would be worth it. As Tonari contemplated what should be his next move the thunderbolt struck Honedge, and even though it was in itself a fairly powerful attack, since Rhyhorn's special stats were low it wasn't that big of a deal for Honedge to shake off the electricity and stand strong, prepared to strike back. Finally Tonari came to a decision.
Honedge. Use shadow sneak. Edge. Honedge melded into the shadows of the area and began to race towards the Rhyhorn, getting ready to jump out and strike. Tonari was well aware that shadow sneak was a fairly weak attack, but coupled with the no guard ability of Honedge it was completely unavoidable and unblockable, and since shadow sneak was a ghost type move and Honedge was a ghost type pokemon it would get a small power boost, so it would still probably hurt.
Akira's eyes narrowed a bit. Just as she thought, her Rhyhorn's somewhat low Special Attack left a bit to be desired, despite how powerful Thunderbolt was. It did pretty decent damage, but not enough to be especially effective. It was going to take more than a few hits to bring this opponent down. Then, before she could weigh her options, the Honedge retaliated with a Shadow Sneak. "Quake, dodge it!" The Rhyhorn nodded...but was, for some reason, completely unable to move, despite having plenty of time to avoid the attack. "...wait what?..." The attack stuck head on, doing some damage. However, she still had plenty of fight left. Pulling out her PokeDex, she scanned the Sword Pokemon, talking quietly to herself once she found out what she needed to know
"Ah, so it has No Guard as its ability...no wonder Quake couldn't move." Before now, the only Pokemon that Akira knew of who could have that Ability naturally was Machop and its evolutions. There were others, like Golett and Karablast who could have the Ability, but only though special means, making it rare to actually see them have it in the wild. Either way, this suited Akira just fine, as it meant that the Honedge wouldn't be able to dodge her attacks either. As much as she didn't want to break out the big guns so soon, she didn't have much of a choice. Thunderbolt wasn't going to do much damage, and the rest of her moves were virtually useless. There was only one move she could use that would be effective.
"Quake, use Drill Run!" The Rhyhorn nodded and leaped into the air, then began to rapidly spin her body. Using her horn as the tip of the "drill", she then charged at Honedge with a horn-first drilling attack. Honestly speaking, something as heavy as a Rhyhorn didn't look like it should have been physically capable of using such an attack...but, then again, that could be said of a lot of Pokemon and certain moves. Akira stopped questioning it a long time ago, and she certainly wasn't complaining. Summary
Quake was hit by Shadow Sneak. It dealt a little damage, and she still has plenty of fight left.
Tonari sighed as he heard his opponent give the command for Drill Run. The ground type move was going to hurt Honedge, and there was no way to avoid the attack, this was a great example of how the no guard ability could be a double edged sword. Honedge. Stand strong, I know you can take this. Honedge didn't react as it straightened up to meet the attack. It knew that this was going to hurt, but it also exuded determination. It wasn't ready to go down yet and it wasn't going to back down, so when the Rhyhorn made contact Honedge dug it's blade into the ground and pushed back. The force of the attack forced Honedge back, digging a furrow in the ground, but after wards Honedge was still able to move away, though it was obviously damaged from the attack. Tonari saw this and knew that one more of those and Honedge would be out, so he was going to make sure Honedge got a chance to leave his mark. Honedge, retaliate with shadow sneak once more! Honedge once again dissapeared into the shadows as it began to speed towards the Rhyhorn. No matter what a hit was assured.
Akira nodded as she watched her Rhyhorn's attack hit the opponent head on, though she was legitimately surprised when she saw that it was still standing...after already having taken some damage, no less. However, this merely served to get Akira fired up even more. In the short time she's been battling on this island, nothing has pleased her more than a determined opponent, and this Honedge wasn't disappointing. Akira kinda had a thing about exploiting weaknesses so early in the battle, so she felt a little bad about having to resort to Drill Run so soon...even if Honedge's rather annoying Type combination didn't leave her with much of a choice. But, seeing the Sword Pokemon's determination eased her guilt, letting her continue with a clear conscience.
As the Honedge retaliated once more with a Shadow Sneak, Akira nodded. Like before, the Rhyhorn still had plenty of fight left. She had some serious doubts that it would be able to take another attack after that hit from Drill Run, so she liked that it chose to go down swinging. Thus, with a nod, Akira called out to the Rhyhorn. "One more time! Use Drill Run" The Rhyhorn nodded and, just as it did before, charged toward the Honedge horn-first while spinning her body in a drill-like motion. From there, Akira watched, waiting to see how it would go...but having a pretty good idea of what the outcome would be.
Tonari sighed inwardly as he waited for the inevitable outcome of Rhyhorn's drill run attack. Tonari knew that there was no way that Honedge would be able to remain consious after another hit from such a powerful attack, but he also knew that Honedge was prepared for this. Honedge himself stood strong as he waited for the impact, standing defiant to the final moment when the Rhyhorn struck him directly. The impact was hard enough to throw the sword pokemon back to land at Tonari's feet, his scabbard clattering as it hit the ground beside him. Tonari bent down and silently gripped Honedge's hilt, wrapping his hand in the cloth of his jacket to avoid the danger of posession, and slid Honedge back into his sheath before recalling him to his pokeball. You did well, you've earned a rest.
Tonari stood back up and faced his opponent, a grin growing on his face. This was what he loved about this school, this was what thrilled him most, the battles of people and pokemon, working as partners. All right then, Ralts, you're up. With that Tonari grabbed a pokeball from inside his coat and released the Ralts from inside of it. Ralts, start off with magical leaf! Ralts immediately began to glow as small leaves began to gather around her, shimmering with power, before shooting towards the Rhyhorn, homing in on the pokemon.
(Sorry this took so long. Been a bit busy, and it slipped my mind x.x )
Akira frowned the moment she saw the Ralts...almost immediately, she knew what was coming, seeing as how she had one herself. Sure enough, the Ralts unleashed a volley of Magical Leaf, and they ripped into the Rhyhorn, almost instantly causing its health to plummet. Welp. That was kind of anti-climactic. Oh well. There was nothing she could do now. Returning the falling Rhyhorn, she debated a bit on her next Pokemon. She could fight fire with fire and use her own Ralts. Or she could try to take advantage of it's rather poor defense with a good physical attacker. After debating a bit, she nodded, knowing what to do.
"Aero! It's your turn!" She tossed a Poke Ball onto the field, and out came her next Pokemon, a Pidgey. The bird took a look at the small Pokemon and leered. He didn't seem to think much of this opponent, but a battle was a battle. "Alright, Aero, use Secret Power!" The Pidgey nodded and his beak began to glow with a bright white light. Soon, this light expanded to envelop his entire body as he charged at the Ralts, aiming to strike it beak-first. Akira waited to see what would happen. If this attack hit, there was a decent chance that the battle could shift in her favor, due to Secret Power's side effect. All she could do was wait...and hope. Summary Rhyhorn was hit with Magical Leaf and knocked out. It's super-effective! Akira returned her Rhyhorn and sent out her Pidgey. Pidgey used Secret Power!
