The following are some rules and information regarding how breeding works. There's not a whole lot to them, so there shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Rules for Breeding First, there's the process itself. It's fairly straightforward, but there are some things you'll need to know before you begin.
- To get things started, all you have to do is make a post, saying which Pokemon you wish to breed. Naturally, they must be of the opposite gender, and in the same Egg Group. If the none of these criteria are met (or if one of the Pokemon are unable to breed for whatever reason), then your request will be denied.
- Breeding takes time. If you decide to leave one or more of your Pokemon at the center, you must wait a week for the results. During this time, should you start any threads, you cannot have the Pokemon you're breeding participate in any way. After all, you can't use a Pokemon you don't have on you.
- Breeding costs money. Each breeding session costs 500 Credits. However, if one of the Pokemon you wish to breed is rare, then the price is greatly increased; it will cost 3,000 Credits. After all, they require a bit more care than most, what with them being rare and all. Either way, should a breeding fail, you will receive a full refund.
- Whether or not the process succeeded, a Pokemon who participated in a breeding will need time to rest. As such, they cannot participate in a another breeding for at least two weeks. On a similar note, a Pokemon who has hatched from an Egg cannot participate in a breeding until they have matured. This usually takes about three weeks.
- If you so wish, you may have one of your Pokemon breed with a Pokemon belonging to another student. In which case, one will make the request, while the other will confirm that they are fine with it. The cost for the breeding will be split between the two students. Otherwise, the same rules apply.
Producing on Offspring Okay, so you've bred your Pokemon. What happens next? Well, that's what we're getting to now.
- Any Eggs produced will have a 50/50 chance of being either species (as opposed to the games, where the species is always the same as the mother). However, Egg Moves will still only be inherited by the father. For the sake of keeping things simple, TM moves will not be transferred from the father.
- Results that are influenced by items will still apply. For example, breeding a Pikachu or Raichu while holding a Light Ball will still guarantee that the offspring will be a Pichu that has Volt Tackle.
- There is a 30% chance that two Eggs will be produced. Should this happen, only one Egg may be claimed. The other Egg will be put up for sale in the Breeding Center, and, when someone buys it, you will receive Credits equal to half of what the Egg went for...of course, there's nothing stopping you from simply buying the second Egg on the spot. If the breeding was done between two students, then you may simply decide between the two of you who will receive which Egg.
- On the opposite end of the spectrum, there is also a 15% chance that the breeding will fail outright, and no Egg will be produced. It's unfortunately, but it happens sometimes. As mentioned above, should this happen, you will be offered a full discount.
Hatching an Egg And now that you have your Egg, you're probably wondering how that works. It's rather simple.
- For the Egg to hatch, you must make ten IC posts. However, they must be made in threads that started after you received the Egg. After all, the order of threads more or less determines the timeline for your character. It wouldn't make sense for you to be incubating an Egg you don't have.
- In each post, you must have your character interact with the Egg in some way. It doesn't have to be anything overly-elaborate...hell, I'll even accept it if they're simply holding the Egg. But, simply mentioning the Egg is randomly sitting on your desk without your character doing anything with/to it won't fly. And any attempts to count a post toward hatching it without even mentioning the Egg will be met with a massive "HELL NO"
- If you have more than one Egg, you're welcome to try and hatch both of them at the same time...though, it might look a little silly to randomly be carrying two or more Eggs around.
- Lastly, if any of your Pokemon have either Flame Body or Magma Armor as their ability, then the number of threads needed to hatch the Egg is cut in half, making it only five posts. However, the only condition for this is that the Pokemon in question must be in your party during each of these posts. Also, if you have more than one Pokemon with either Ability, the effects do not stack.
So...yeah. That's pretty much all there is to it as far as breeding Pokemon is concerned. If there are any questions, feel free to PM me. Otherwise, have at it.
