Money breeds malice and the king is no exception. Growing up with a wealthy background entitled him Elijah to a crude narcissism that seems to be deeply embedded to the elite lifestyle. The only difference is that Elijah doesn’t pride himself in his own perfections but rather looks down on the flaws of others. He considers himself the standard and anything less should be treated as such - inferior. It alienates himself as a jerk due to his crude, blunt manner of speech but his statements are far from wrong. Elijah refuses to sugarcoat things and looks down on those who can’t take petty criticism.
Having to live a predetermined life already paved out for himself has left Elijah with very little in the field of choices. The lack of control over important aspects of his life has left him extremely instinctual. Just about everything he does is on a whim with no regards to the consequences that follow. He tries to live his life as freely as possible without fear. There’s no doubt that he’ll be able to handle anything that arises which comes from his overconfidence as a king.
Pokemon may be a strange concept to the young King but he treats them no differently than their human counterparts. They’re sentient creatures and fully capable of being sorted out into different caste systems. Some of them are disposable tools (a mindset shared most commonly with Team Rocket) while other carry self worth and demand a certain amount of respect. There are strong pokemon as well as weak ones but most prove to have some sort of self worth. As an aspiring trainer, Elijah believes it’s his job to find the exact niche that each Pokemon is able to fill without regards to pampering and revering them over concepts of friendship like other trainers do.

Being born into a wealthy family was never a guarantee of and easy upbringing. The promise of an inheritance would mean that Elijah would have to grow into someone worth carrying the family name. as the son of the owners of various Kanto apartment complexes, he was bred and raised to become a top class businessman, one able to run and control their various properties in his parent’s stead. Naturally they expected him to start schooling early, running through advanced schooling and being taught how to live among the upper class. Most of his childhood was spent learning the behavior and mannerisms of the elite as well as growing into the expectations his parents had for him.
Unlike others, Elijah didn’t have the option to set out at a young age to travel the world and seek his fortune. Instead, his life had been predetermined from his birth. He was to keep himself reserved to his lessons and dabble into studies that most trainers skip altogether. Time wasted on the forlorn dream of becoming a Pokemon master were better spent refining his understandings of economics, social behavior, political science, and high level math and science. The only real exposure to Pokemon that Elijah would receive were lectures on battle theory, watching domesticated pokemon work alongside humans, and everyday interactions with the house staff.
Adolescence was supposed to be a time for him to finally delve into the world of Pokemon. Unfortunately, exploring the primitive wilds was absolutely out of the question. Enrolling in a distinguished school which replicated the feral environments of the outside world was much more suitable for someone of his class. It was only natural for him to find his transfer papers set up for the upcoming semester. It’s a bit late considered his age in contrast to his peers but Elijah won’t need much before he’s caught up with the rest.
