Falling Star Academy is set on a man-made island, which is quite large. With it's various types of land and climates, it is able to host a wide variety of Pokemon from several regions making it an ideal place for people who want to become a trainer, but don't quite have the confidence or motivation to explore an entire region. The many different biomes allow one to do plenty of exploration while not having to go very far, and will hopefully get them used to the idea of actually traveling through a region one day. The most notable feature of the island itself is that it is actually in the shape of a five-pointed star. Valeria Saren, who established the Academy and serves as the headmistress, named it "Falling Star Academy" because she likes to think of the academy as a place that grants the wishes of its various students...just like how people occasionally make a wish when they see an actual falling star.
In what is known as the Central Area, the main school building and staff dormitories are located. With the possible exception of the Alpina Ruins, the school is easily the largest building on the island. A Pokemon Lab is also located here, and is it there that students will go to receive their starter Pokemon.
There are also five dorms, each one representing one of the five Japanese elements, and located in a different area of the island. There's the Air Dorm to the north, the Water Dorm to the south, the Fire Dorm to the east, the Earth Dorm to the southeast, and, finally, the Void Dorm to the southwest.
FALLING STAR ACADEMY was created by AKIRA. Skin by MINNIE of BACK TO NEVERLAND and edits by Amaryllis. All original content, including the site plot, systems, templates, etcetera, belong to them; images were found on livejournal and weheartit, and belong to their respective owners. Codes as seen and used were taken from sites such as Slightly Insane, Social, and Proboards Support. Do not steal anything / take it without permission.
It was just a little bit cooler this morning than Katsumi had been hoping for. Not too breezy, thankfully, but still chilly enough that she had advised her new students to wear something warm over their gym uniforms. They'd get warmer once they got past the obligatory orientation part of class and started moving around, at least, otherwise Katsumi would have had them start inside that day. Or possibly later in the day, but most of the time the morning was better for working out anyway.
Rather than the tall grass of most of Soldiago Field, Katsumi had chosen a location where the grass was much shorter and much more like a sports field. A number of tables sat out on the field, all arranged close enough together to look like a compact classroom. Four camp chairs sat at each table, with a sheet of paper sitting in front of each chair. Small weights sat on top of the papers in anticipation of a breeze, but that had thankfully been unnecessary. Katsumi's Salamence, Ferrovax, flew circles overhead to signal students of the meeting place, while now that the actual setting up was done her Infernape, Seiten Taisei, was killing time by juggling extra paperweights. He would stop, on occasion, to greet an approaching student, while Katsumi directed them to sit down.
"Take a moment to fill out the questionnaire before we begin," she said as the first few showed up. "We'll start once it seems like everyone's done."

Elodea was actually somewhat happy to be out in the open. Today she had her first class and, although she wasn't happy that it was a class that took place in field where everyone could see her, she was rather excited about it. So excited, in fact, that she had gotten up and left her dorm early. Now arriving at where the class was supposed to take place, she had made herself seem smaller and tried her best to not be seen by the teacher and the other students. She had sat down at one of the tables, noticing the questionnaire in front of her. Taking a pencil out, she got to work.

It was a new, slightly special day for Glacio. It was his first day of actually having class despite his being here for a little while, and it left Glacio slightly wondering why that was, but that did not take away much from his rising excitement. While Glacio was excited, he was also curious as to who all would be in his PE Class, not that it really mattered much since his circle of people he even slightly knew was rather limited.
So, after somehow managing to get up out of bed early, while avoiding the act of waking up his roommate, Glacio decided to go on a little pre-class stroll. In preparation for the soon to be happening PE class, Glacio had worn his arm length gloves along with his rarely seen red overcoat with his gym uniform before wondering through the now quiet areas of the school with his party of Pokemon. And to Glacio, it was fun, just walking with no one really around, so he could enjoy the quiet of the surrounding areas, but once Glacio realized that his class would be starting soon, he had started heading over to the commons area, somewhat lost as he forgot to check where the class would actually be held; luckily, after willing up the courage to talk to a stranger, one of the other students had pointed him in the right direction of the soon to be starting class, Solidago Fields.
After the surprisingly short walk, he was briefly greeted by an Infernape juggling some sort of objects, though he was eventually directed towards an empty table, where he saw the green haired girl he had met only a few brief days before, and thus with all of his Pokemon snuggling him, or attached to him in Chompers' case, he began to start on the questionnaire laid before him, luckily scrounging up a pen before hand, before realizing that they were one of the only people there.

How do you plan to reach them? By participating very actively in this class and pushing my limits as often as possible

What activities would you like to do in this class? Target Practice, or what I listed above, though primarily running
How often do you make use of the Training Area? I haven't been able to get in yet. It has been to crowded

Anything else you want to share? I enjoy reading and hanging out with my Pokemon. I also keep my Pokemon out of their pokeball unless they are required to be in their pokeballs
Once he had finished with his questionnaire, Glacio sat there patiently, with Chompers on his head, Cecil the Growlithe curled around his waist, Mega the Aron sleeping on Glacio's foot and Gaia the Hippopotas sitting next to Glacio on his bench. He was just curious in what they were all going to do next.
Albion awoke in his bed and his eyes widened as he looked at the clock. He was late for his first class of the year and he took off running down the campus of the island. In his right hand he held his breakfast which he ate on the way to the class and in his left he carried his small little Togepi by the name of Flora. Flora seemed like she was having fun as the wind hit her face. However, Albion on the other hand was not seeing as he had to run to the other side of the island in about 10 minutes or else he would be late. When he got to the feild he smiled and nodded to the teacher as he sat down and saw the questionnaire in front of him and sighed as he got his pencil and began to fill it out.

Elizabeth sucked in a breath of the crisp morning air as she trotted to the field, Charles, her Charmander jogging after her. It was exhilarating, to get up when she wanted to, and go where she wanted to. If she wanted to go running through the miniature desert with a sweatshirt on, she could do that without worrying about her aunt and uncle yelling at her. She wasn't going to, because to do so would be just plain stupid, but there was a sense of satisfaction in knowing that she could. Elizabeth might have even been in a good mood, which was practically unheard of for her, if she had been more settled into her new home on the island. Unfortunately she wasn't. Her dark red sweatshirt was tied around her waist, she didn't need it currently, exposing her light red t-shirt underneath. Her jeans, which were a bit to long, kept threatening to get caught under her shoes. Charles lagged behind her, given he had to be careful about where he put his tail. Wet grass or dry grass, he liked to be on the careful side.
She approached the not quite classroom and eyed it skeptically. There was a piece of paper. For GYM class. What was the world coming too? She avoided the other students, probably not the best idea given she could use some friends, and sat alone, looking down at the piece of paper in front of her. Charles caught up and climbing into her lap, wanting to see what this irritating thing on the desk like thing happened to be. Realizing it was just words, which he didn't know how to read, he climbed back down and let Elizabeth get around to answering the questions.

What is your current Pokemon team? Charmander, Mareep, Mienfoo
What is your favorite Pokemon type? I don't know.
Why did you choose to sign up for this class? Because I felt like it?
Do you have any goals for this class? If so, what are they? No, not really.
How do you plan to reach them? N/A
What is your average breakfast? Cereal
What is your average Lunch? A sandwich
What is your average supper? I don't know. Why do you care?
How much physical activity do you average daily? Weekly? Depends. Lately I've been exploring the island all day every day.
What is your favorite type of physical activity? Fighting
What activities would you like to do in this class? Fun ones
How often do you make use of the Training Area? Haven't had a chance to use it at all yet
Do you try to train all of your Pokemon, or just a specific team? Don't have enough pokemon to know yet.
Anything else you want to share? Yes, I'm normally this obstinate. Not really sorry.
Elizabeth looked over her answers, surprised to realize she'd been remarkably friendly. This was weird. It wouldn't have been uncommon, back at her aunt and uncle's house and school, for her to just not bother to fill out the piece of paper at all, just to spite the teacher. Well. she wasn't quite sure what she thought of this development. She leaned back in her chair and waited for class to start.
Ahh, Gym class. It was one of the classes that Akira seriously looked forward to. She was in pretty good physical shape herself, so she didn't really need the class. But she signed up anyway, simply because it sounded like a lot of fun. As such, she was slightly confused when, upon reaching the appointed area, the first thing she saw was a make-shift "classroom". This was probably just going to be for an introduction or something. Maybe the teacher would be going over what they'll do when the actual class starts. At the very least, Akira could only assume that this wouldn't be the only thing they do in the class. Otherwise, what would the point even be?
As she approached the "classroom", she took note of the two rather Pokemon in the area, which, due to how powerful they were, she could only assume belonged to the Gym Teacher. The first one she saw was the Salamence, immediately recognizing it. Misaki, one of her adoptive mothers, owned one, and she got to watch her battle with it quite often, alongside an Aggron and an Electivire. She remembered that she would always switch her team around, yet those three, having apparently been with her the longest, were always part of it. But I digress. She was just as happy when she saw Katsumi's other Pokemon; an Infernape. Though, that was more to do with her love of Fighting-types than anything else.
Either way, she walked over to one of the desks and noticed one of the papers. Ah...a questionnaire, it seemed. Well, at least the "classroom" made sense now. Thus, she sat down and began filling it out...

What is your current Pokemon team? Currently, I have my Poliwag, Rhyhorn, Tepig, Ralts, Pidgey and Mareep with me.
What is your favorite Pokemon type? Fighting-types, definitely!
Why did you choose to sign up for this class? Honestly, I just signed up because it sounded like fun.
Do you have any goals for this class? If so, what are they? Not...really. Like I said, I just signed up because it sounded fun.
How do you plan to reach them? See above.
What is your average breakfast? The breakfast sandwiches they serve in the cafeteria are pretty awesome, so I usually just grab a couple of those.
What is your average Lunch? Usually a fish sandwich. Though the nachos are pretty good too, since they load them with taco meat, so I get them once in a while.
What is your average supper? If there's anything with fish and/or shrimp, I'll go for it. Otherwise, I just grab whatever looks good.
How much physical activity do you average daily? Weekly? I don't really keep count. Though, I usually go out for a walk/run for at least half an hour a day.
What is your favorite type of physical activity? Mostly just walking or running.
What activities would you like to do in this class? Dodge Ball!
How often do you make use of the Training Area? As often as possible, though it's usually pretty crowded, so it's not as often as I'd like.
Do you try to train all of your Pokemon, or just a specific team? I try to train them fairly even, though, if a specific Pokemon seems close to evolving, I may focus on them a bit.
Anything else you want to share? I don't know if this really applies to anything in this class...but...I kinda don't do well around Murkrow or Honchkrow. At all.
Well...that was a thing. Personally speaking, some of these questions seemed a little personal, though it was nothing she was uncomfortable with answering. But it wasn't her class, so she wasn't going to complain. Once she was finished, she looked around to see if anyone else was done with theirs.

Cole sprinted across the field. In the distance, could see a circling Pokemon flying over a small cluster of chairs. He clanked down at his watch. Nearly late, but it looked like he would make it on time. Barely. Cole grew ever closer to the "classroom" as it were, his back pack bouncing on his back.
A workout before the class even starts, the trainer thought, a small grin forming on his face. His arms and legs pumped like pistons as he tried to run as fast as possible. His face was flushed red and sweat ran down it. His red gym shirt was stained a darker shade with sweat and his hoody was wrapped around his waist, flapping in the breeze created from his running. When he got within 20 feet, Cole slowed down to a walk and tried to casually walk up to the class. He chose a random desk and plopped down in the camp chair. He pulled a pencil from his pocket and brushed his sweaty hair from his eyes to read the paper. After a moment of reading, Cole answered the questions.

Simon smiled as he crossed the island at a slow pace seeing as he had plenty of time left on his hands but as he walked he stayed as far as he could away from the water. With his Larvatar sitting on his head Simon smiled up at it as a breeze blew through his hair. Simon hated the fact that he was terrified of water but it was something he had to deal with, and quite frankly... being on an island didn't really help with the whole water thing.
As he neared the so-called "Classroom" Simon showed no expression on his face as he walked over to it. He looked around and saw people already sitting down at little camp chairs. His eyes widened in fear when he saw the water Pokémon sitting on top of the boy's head. He didn't have anything against the little Totadile, it was just... water... Simon hoped no one noticed this fear as he sat as far away from the boy as possible then took out his paper and began to wright.

Just who set up a classroom in the middle of a field?
Okay, Karin admitted, that wasn't quite fair. It was the first day, and they were outside. And there was at least a good chance from all the effort their teacher went through that they would be actually doing things later on. Otherwise, they could have just used an empty classroom or the Battle Dome. But the effort was also the strangest part about it. Enough tables and chairs had been put together to accommodate the entire class. Tables and chairs that had to be dragged out onto the field, then presumably hauled back once everything was done. And one of what she assumed was the gym teacher's pokemon, a Salamence, was flying circles in the air over this makeshift classroom, easily visible once she reached the field itself.
As she approached the set up tables the person Karin could only assume was their teacher, a smoking hot woman with salmon-colored hair, bandages wrapped most of the way up one arm, and poise matching Karin's mother and her fellow contest stars, directed her to take a seat and fill out the questionnaire sitting in front of it. Karin did so, sitting down next to Akira and looking over the questions. They seemed simple enough, if a bit direct. Even so, paperwork in a PE class? Who did that?
Even so, the sooner she filled it out the sooner they could get to the fun part. So fill it out she did.

What is your current Pokemon team? Misdreavus, Bronzor, Snorunt, Litwick, Frillish, Rotom
What is your favorite Pokemon type? Ghost
Why did you choose to sign up for this class? Gotta be in top condition for exploring. I'm already pretty well in shape, but there's already room for improvement.
Do you have any goals for this class? If so, what are they? I don't know yet. I was hoping to see what the plans and expectations for the class were, first.
How do you plan to reach them? All depends on what they end up being.
What is your average breakfast? A cup of coffee and something quick, like a granola bar. I'm usually in a hurry.
What is your average Lunch? A sandwich. What kind depends on what I can get my hands on.
What is your average supper? Whatever the cafeteria is serving. I'm terrible at cooking my own food.
How much physical activity do you average daily? Weekly? Depends how much I'm out and about. Usually at least half of each day, but that's anywhere from simple walking to rock climbing.
What is your favorite type of physical activity? Climbing and skiing
What activities would you like to do in this class? Well, so long as we're not doing the same thing every class, I'm fine. Would be nice to go beyond normal PE class stuff, though. Climbing, swimming, target sports...maybe a bit of boxing if you can get away with it.
How often do you make use of the Training Area? Whenever I can get in. That's unfortunately not very often.
Do you try to train all of your Pokemon, or just a specific team? I only recently caught a full team.
Anything else you want to share? I don't do well with extreme heat. Whatever we end up doing, can we stay out of the desert?
And that was done. She glanced back over everything to make sure she had given unique answers to everything. "I wonder if I mentioned climbing enough," she joked under her breath, setting it down.
It was a rather chilly sort of day, and Eric had decided that that was a sufficient excuse to wear a cloak.
Maybe that was an uncommon response these days, but Eric liked cloaks and other weirdly anachronistic bits of clothing. Plus, with the hood over his head, he really did feel pleasantly warm. The boy approached the gathered class at the tables in the middle of the field, excited even if he was a little bit nervous.
The teacher directed the students to fill out the questionnaire paperweighted to the tables, so he sat down at the nearest spot, pulled out a blue pen, and began to answer the questions.

Why did you choose to sign up for this class? For fun. I like running around and getting exercise, and having adventures is easier if I'm in shape.
Do you have any goals for this class? If so, what are they? To have fun, mostly. And to get stronger!
How do you plan to reach them? A lot of running, I hope.
What is your average breakfast? Cereal and milk, or toast.
What is your average Lunch? A peanut butter sandwich.
What is your average supper? Some kind of meat, with chocolate-coated asparagus if I can get it.
How much physical activity do you average daily? Weekly? Usually I'm doing a bit of running, climbing, or exploring with my friends every day. Not sure what that adds up to.
What is your favorite type of physical activity? Hard to pick! Running around? Climbing mountains?
What activities would you like to do in this class? Can we do fencing? That would be so cool!
How often do you make use of the Training Area? As often as I can, but it's usually full up in there!
Do you try to train all of your Pokemon, or just a specific team? I don't have enough Pokémon to pick and choose, but even if I get more I'll be training all of them.
Anything else you want to share?
Eric stared contemplatively at the last question on the page. He had gotten more and more impulsive and enthusiastic with his answers as he went on, but now he could not think of anything to say to this last question. Finally, he tapped his pen to his mouth once, and then wrote,
Having woken up early Cassius was totally ready for the day, with Laria napping on his shoulders and Charon either asleep back in the dorm or having found a dark place to lurk, his Pokémon weren’t really morning types, or day types even. Eh, it didn’t matter too much to her, their loss. Quirking his eyebrows as he spied the makeshift classroom and red headed teach, he would shrug and make his way over near a Void Dormer and a Water Dormer. “Sup.” He said while sitting down on the other side of the Water Dorm girl, setting the snoozing Cacnea on the ground next to his feet. As a little wind ruffled his lab coat he would fill out the questionnaire. It was kinda weird that they had to do it for a gym class, but it was probably just a teacher thing.

Why did you choose to sign up for this class? Because it looked fun, Oh I like running too

What is your average Lunch? Oh whatever they are serving at the cafeteria
What is your average supper? Either whatever they have at the cafeteria, or whatever I can make.
How much physical activity do you average daily? Weekly? Well I usually take walks daily around the island, sometimes I run around and climb trees
What is your favorite type of physical activity? Climbing, Oh or running
What activities would you like to do in this class? Whatever is fine with me
How often do you make use of the Training Area? Oh I haven’t had time to go yet, it’s always like full and stuff
Do you try to train all of your Pokémon, or just a specific team? I could never neglect any of my Pokémon’s growth
Anything else you want to share? Not really, if we could stay away from Carvanha that would be really, really, really, really appreciated.
Setting the paperweight back on the piece of paper after he was done filling it out Cassius would turn to the two girls beside him. “Hi, the name’s Cassius, y’all two excited?” He asked the girls with a friendly smile, he had only recently arrived on the island and he might as well start making friends right? And these two seemed nice enough.

Katsumi watched her students come in, sizing up each of them as they came in. They seemed to be an active bunch for the most part, which was a huge step above her first class from a few years back. Certainly plenty of room for improvement, but of course that was the purpose of the class in the first place. She would hopefully have a better idea where each of them stood once she saw the questionnaires, then anything else she didn't know could be worked out either in one on one sessions or as the class progressed.
While she was waiting for the last of the students to fill out the questionnaires, Katsumi walked around, glancing over how everyone else was doing. She noticed a consistent trend of people not putting much on the last question. "Oh, if you have you have any pre-existing conditions or anything else that would keep you from doing certain activities, go ahead and write them in the last question. Otherwise I'll be expecting all of you to participate in anything and everything we do."
She waited another minute, in case anyone had anything to add, then continued. "So, for any of you who don't know me, I am your PE teacher, Katsumi Yamashiro. I've been teaching here for almost as long as Falling Star has been open, and was an assistant instructor at Saffron City's Fighting Dojo for five years for that. And I've been a Pokemon trainer for the last sixteen years, so if any of you ever have any questions on Pokemon training, physical fitness, or even martial arts, feel free to ask any time.
Today's class will be mostly introductions and class expectations. Once that's finished, we'll be doing a quick activity to get a feel for the class and to gauge everyone's fitness level. I will also be passing around a sign-up sheet in a minute for one-on-one meetings. These will be to discuss your goals for the class and to help everyone plan a workout schedule suited to their needs." She took a deep breath, then turned to the last student who had arrived. "Cassius, would you collect everyone's questionnaires for me, please?" she asked. Then, looking back up at the class as a whole, she said "While he's doing that, does anyone have any questions so far?"
While Cassius finished up his little questionnaire he would tune in and out of what the teacher was saying. Yeah he put all the relevant stuff in there. As she talked more about herself he would note down the important details, mostly about the martial arts thing. That seemed really fun actually, to be able to do sweet Kung-Fu moves and junk. The second he asked his question the teacher would call out his name. Thinking he was in trouble Cassius would let out a squeak and shift in his seat to face Ms. Yamashiro. “Yes ma’am!” He said automatically, not realizing what he agreed to at first.
Letting out an embarrassed cough Cassius would slip out of his seat and start across the tables grabbing up all the papers, humming quietly to himself as he did. It was no big deal, thankfully she didn’t get on his case for talking when she was. Dipping and diving between the makeshift classroom, he would work quick, and soon a nice stack of papers were in his hand. “Um, here you go ma’am.” He said, while holding the stack up to her, waiting for the teacher to take it so he could take his seat.
Once she took back the stack of tests he would slink back to his seat, stopping before he sat down to give Laria a nice pet. He looked at the two girls next to him then grimaced a bit in embarrassment. “Well that happened.” He groused while rubbing the back of his neck, he couldn’t believe that just happened, and in front of two people he was trying to make friends with. The Pokémon snoozing by his fit groaned and shifted a bit, dead to the world. For the little cactus it was hard adjusting to a cycle of being awake at day.
