The first thing you must do in order to begin hunting for fossils is buy an Excavation Kit from the PokeMart. It's expensive, but well worth it, considering what you can find. Next create a thread in this board; each time you attempt to go digging, simply post in that same thread.
Although your first post (i.e. starting the thread) will need to be IC, every post afterward does not. For those who still want to, they're welcome to continue making an IC post each time they go digging, but it's purely optional. If you wish, you may simply just make a quick post to the effect of "digging for treasure/fossils". Whether you RP it or not, you need to choose whether you're searching for the fossil of a Pokemon or digging around in search of potentially valuable treasures. It's one or the other; you can't do both.
If you choose to look for treasure, then the a staff member will roll up to three items for you; this will play out similar to a catching thread where the item will show up one at a time; it will be up to you if you want to keep the item or pass on it in hopes of finding something better. Whatever shows up in the third roll is what you'll get; whether you take it or decide to leave empty-handed is up to you.
The following is a list of what can be found in these tunnels;
1) a set of three randomized Dorm Balls
2) a randomized TR
3) a randomized Mega Stone
4) a randomized Z-crystal
5) a satchel containing Stardust; if selected, this item is automatically sold for 1500 TP
6) a Rare Bone; if selected, this item is automatically sold for 2500 TP
7) a Nugget; if selected, this item is automatically sold for 5000 TP
8) a Big Nugget; if selected, this item is automatically sold for 10000 TP
The process isn't much different when searching for a Fossil. The only real difference is that each Fossil has the same chance of appearing, meaning the listing is more or less a glorified spawn list. For the sake of refresher, if nothing else, here's a full list of the fossils that can be found;
1) Dome Fossil; can be revived into Kabuto.
2) Helix Fossil; can be revived into Omanyte.
3) Old Amber; can be revived into Aerodactyl.
4) Root Fossil; can be revived into Lileep.
5) Claw Fossil; can be revived into Anorith.
6) Skull Fossil; can be revived into Cranidos.
7) Armor Fossil; can be revived into Shieldon.
8) Cover Fossil; can be revived into Tirtouga.
9) Plume Fossil; can be revived into Archen.
10) Jaw Fossil; can be revived into Tyrunt.
11) Sail Fossil; can be revived into Amaura.
12) Fossilized Bird; can be revived into either Dracozolt or Arctozolt (you may choose which one; no Fossilized Drake or Dino necessary)
13) Fossilized Fish; can be revived into either Dracovish or Arctovish (you may choose which one; no Fossilized Drake or Dino necessary)
Same rules apply; up to three will spawn, and you can choose to pass on the first two if you're hoping for one particular fossil. But once the third one comes up, that's it; either take it or leave empty-handed.
If you do take a Fossil, you may feel free to add the Pokemon it becomes to you PC once you've claimed it; no need to IC post anywhere IC to have it revived. Upon doing so, you're free to choose its gender, Ability (no Hidden Ability), and moves. Business as usual for the moves; four moves, one can be an Egg Move, the rest must be Level-up.
Regardless of what route you end up taking, you may only do this once every other week. Each new week starts on every Sunday, regardless of what day you actually posted. And if you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask the staff
